Coming back from the SEMA/PRI ‘Rally at the Capital’, an automotive industry lobbying event Melling CEO Mark Melling attended. Mark knew he could do more to spread awareness of issues involving the automotive industry and how representatives are fighting for the automotive industry. He came up with an idea, to host a family-friendly event on site at the Melling headquarters and invite the community to come and display their classic cars and hot rods while being able to meet NHRA Pro Stock drivers and raise awareness for the importance of the CARS Act.

The CARS “Choice in Automobile Retail Sales” Act was introduced by Michigan Congressman and Jackson representative Tim Walberg. The bill would prohibit the EPA from finalizing the tailpipe emission standards for medium and light-duty motor vehicles model years 2027’-2032’. The standard would require automakers’ average emissions to equal 85 grams/mile.

To comply with this standard, an estimated 67% of new vehicles sold would have to be EVs by 2032. The CARS Act passed the House of Representatives 221 to 197 and waits for consideration by the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee.

Melling leadership strongly supports the bill and thanks Congressman Walberg for his efforts towards protecting Melling Tool and the entire internal combustion engine industry.
